It’s no secret that the body goes through changes with age. Some of them occur gradually, but others seem to happen overnight.

In reality, many physical things people experience as they grow older are beyond their control. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t take steps to keep yourself in the best shape possible.

Dr. Adepero Okulaja at The Doctor’s House knows people want to look and feel their best at every age. That’s why she relies on four simple tips and provides anti-aging services to make it easy for everyone to thrive — especially in their golden years.

Are you ready to take action? Here’s what you need to know.

1. Prioritize your health — every day

Health and wellness should be a top priority at every stage of life. However, they become increasingly important with age.

The body undergoes changes over time, such as:

  • Stiffening of the arteries and blood vessels
  • Shrinking bone size and density
  • Structural changes in the large intestine
  • Less elasticity in the bladder and urinary tract

Fortunately, making healthy lifestyle choices every day can help support your body despite these changes: getting enough physical activity, eating a healthy diet, improving sleep quality, and managing stress.

Not sure where to start? Dr. Okulaja offers total wellness health coaching to help you make strategic changes to positively impact your health.

2. Consider supplementation

Even when you’re careful about your diet, it’s easy to fall short of your nutritional needs — especially as you age. Aging increases a person’s chances of nutrient deficiencies for various reasons. People often experience muscle loss and produce less stomach acid. There’s also a reduced need for calories.

These changes can impact food intake and nutritional absorption. However, an older person still needs nutrients to function and thrive.

The Doctor’s House offers its own vitamin and mineral supplementation line to keep you in optimal shape. Dr. Okulaja also recommends IV infusions that provide a variety of anti-aging benefits — and they deliver the nutrients you need fast, so your body can function its best in no time.

3. Don’t skimp on preventive care

It’s easy to think you can shrug off regular preventive care appointments once you reach a certain age. However, these screenings can detect signs of a problem in their earliest and most treatable stages.

And we’re not just talking about cancer screenings. In addition to seeing your medical provider, Dr. Okulaja recommends regular dental, hearing, and vision checkups. That’s because optimal health involves your whole body, especially as you age.

4. Partner with an expert you trust

The best way to thrive throughout your golden years is by working with a trusted medical provider who can eliminate the guesswork in protecting your health and ensuring you feel your best. For instance, Dr. Okulaja can identify and treat the root cause of an issue — like hormone imbalances — and provide chronic care management.

When you meet with Dr. Okulaja, she can help tailor these four tips to your unique needs and keep you on track moving forward. Do you want to thrive in your golden years? Contact The Doctor’s House to schedule a consultation with Dr. Okulaja in Edina, Minnesota, today.

I am amazed at how much time the Doctor spends with me. She is very compassionate, is very interested in your issues and solving them. I was totally taken away when some test results showed some possible heart issues. She immediately rescheduled more test and made the appointments as we sat in the clinic room. When I first met my new heart doctor, he said I very lucky to have Dr. O as my doctor because she cared so much about her patients. (you might have to wait a bit to get called to your room, be patient, she will spend as much time with you)

Dr O is amazing- she really listens and considers a patient's entire well being. She's pragmatic and I am already feeling much better after a few visits (and some vitamins that are missing from my system). She takes all the time needed to answer every question and is always responsive and engaging.

Dr. Okulaja has been my primary care physician since 2009. That, right there, says a lot. From my personal experience, her medical treatment is very proactive, to keep me healthy, instead of just reactive. She spends enough time with me at appointments & listens well & works “with” me for my best healthcare plan. Her most unique quality in today’s healthcare world, is that she truly does care deeply about her patients, & I feel very fortunate to be one of them. I highly recommend her as a Dr.
